GOTS’ objective is to set requirements that ensure organic status of textiles, from harvesting of the raw materials, through environmentally and socially responsible manufacturing, all the way to the labeling in order to provide credible assurance to you the consumer. What is GOTS-certified cotton? GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) is the worldwide textile processing standard for organic fibers. And one of the things I love about this brand is that they make their clothes with GOTS-certified, organic cotton. Their clothing is some of the most comfortable pieces I have ever worn. Synergy sent me a few items to try, and I immediately noticed the softness of the fabric. It is a city that begs for travelers to forgo the touristy beaten paths for quaint side streets, sidewalk cafes, and a bottle of wine by the Seine at night. Though I am not of French heritage, I love this city as though as it were my birthplace: the patisseries, history, beauty, and magic. Every time I visit, it feels like a home away from home. You can check out their full line of organic fashion on their website.Paris will always be my favorite city. On top of gorgeous dresses, Synergy makes beautiful organic tops, skirts, and yoga gear. I love both of the dresses that I have, and I’m ogling a couple of the others, like the Striped Tank Panel Dress pictured to the right. It is freaking gorgeous! Seriously, I want every single piece on their site. Synergy’s clothing is more than just well-made and ethical. And the cuts are classic, so they will be a treasured part of your wardrobe for years and years. They are well-constructed, so they don’t start to pill or fall to pieces with washing and wear. Heirloom pieces are ones that are meant to last. What Synergy makes is heirloom organic fashion. At Forever 21, you’re buying a made in China garment using dirty conventional cotton that’s probably only going to last you a couple of seasons before it pills, falls apart, or just goes out of style. What you have to keep in mind is that these pieces are produced a lot differently. I’ll be honest here: you’re going to pay more for a dress from Synergy than you will for something you got at Forever 21. It can, but it doesn’t have to, especially if you’re buying in bulk. The thing is, while organic fabric does cost more than conventional fabric, it doesn’t cost that much more. That cost gets passed on to the consumer. Sustainable farming tends to be a little pricier for the farmer, so organic cotton is a bit pricier than conventional cotton. It does make sense that organic clothing would cost more. So many organic pieces cost hundreds of dollars, and let’s be honest here: a $250 day dress just isn’t in everyone’s fashion budget. Organic clothing can seem a little bit out of reach. I have it in green, and it’s quickly become a favorite piece in my wardrobe! I have a new favorite organic fashion obsession: organic cotton dresses from Synergy Clothing!ĭisclosure: I own a couple of organic fashion pieces from Synergy Clothing: one dress that I bought myself a couple of years ago and one that I won in a giveaway at The Good Human earlier this summer. This is the Poppy Dress that I won in a giveaway this summer.
